WhatsApp Message Forwarding Restrictions in India
WhatsApp Message Forwarding Restrictions: The Facebook-owned platform had announced the launch of message forwarding limit to five chats in India. The popular instant messaging service Whatsapp has begun rolling out its forward message limit to five chats feature in India. Last month WhatsApp rolled out an update with ‘Suspicious Link Indicator’ feature that detects suspicious links and notifies the user. The message forwarding limit has started to appear for people in India who are on the latest version of WhatsApp.
In addition to this, the company published a new video to educate users on how to spot fake news and lies. WhatsApp allows users to forward messages for up to 20 chats (either individuals or groups). WhatsApp stated that they are deeply committed to the user’s safety and privacy and continue to improve its WhatsApp end-to-end encryption feature.
The (DoT) Department of Telecommunications of India asked telecommunication companies for the actions to block Social Media Platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Telegram in case of any threat to National Security. However, the (COAI) Cellular Operators Association of India said, the government should study for “more adequate” steps to control fake news and keep public order, instead of blocking mobile applications.
