Google Home, Google Home Mini and Google Home Max
Google is an efficient search engine. The word ‘Google’ literally means one followed by a hundred zeros. Technical teams, programmers, and consultants from all over the world are working hard for excellence. Google is amazing so far in introducing products like Google pixel, Google pixel 2. it has also introduced software like Google hangout, Google Duo, and Google voice assistant. This article features Google’s new products The Google Home and The Google Home mini.
The Google Home is a smart speaker which was developed and introduced by Google. The functional differences between Google Home and Home Mini are almost the same. The only difference between them is size. It was first announced in November 2016 and was later released in 2017.
Google Smart Speaker interacts with the users by Google’s intelligent voice assistant called Google Assistant. The Google Home also allows the features like controlling smart appliances with voice, home automation, playing music, viewing photos, hands-free calling and multi-user support. Google Home is typically has a cylindrical shape. It also has LED lights as a part of the visual representation. The base is modular. The Google smart speaker is available in various colors which blend in with the environment. There are three types of models and they are:
1. Google Home
2. Google Home Mini
3. Google Home Max
It is a cylinder-shaped speaker. It is 5.6 inches high. The diameter of 3.7 inches. The top surface has LEDs which makes it look good. It features touch controls to start, stop the music and adjusts the volume. The base of the device is covered with a shell called the speaker grille. Google offers fabric shells in Marine, Mango, and Violet color finishes, and metallic shells in Carbon, Copper, and Snow” finish.
Google Home Mini
Home Mini is a pebble-shaped speaker. The diameter is of 4 inches. Home mini has a mute switch rather than a mute button. It uses a micro USB for power connection. It is available in Chalk, Coral, and Charcoal color options. Analysts compared the Google Home Mini to Amazon’s equivalent Echo Dot model.
Google Home Max
Google also released Google Max in December 2017. It is a larger version with stereo speakers and type C connector for a wired ethernet adaptor. Home Max is available in Chalk and Charcoal options. Analysts consider Home Max as a direct competition to products like Sonos and Apple’s HomePod.
Google’s Home, Home Mini, Home Max smart speakers have received generally positive reviews from the critics. David Pierce of the wired magazine compared Google Smart Speaker with Amazon Echo. He stated that “Sometimes Home feels like sci-fi magic. Sometimes it reaches beyond its grasp and falls flat. The Echo is less impressive but more reliable”.
Ron Amadeo of Ars Technica praised the performance of Google Home. He stated that “Pretty much all the actions you send to a Google Home will stay on that the device, and there’s never any interaction with your phone”.
